Process Development Engineer
Plays a critical role in the design and development of manufacturing processes for pigmented powder, liquid cosmetics and skincare products. The role also supports process validation efforts by developing validation protocols and executing them.
Planning and executing process engineering trials of pigmented powder and liquid as well as skincare products to improve the efficiency of processes.
Liaising with laboratory scientists/Chemists and manufacturing operators to develop efficient manufacturing processes.
Identifying appropriate equipment train for pilot, scale up trials and production.
Monitoring and lending chemical processing expertise during trials and translating the observations into well written and easy to follow manufacturing instructions.
Authoring and executing process validation protocols and summary reports.
Must have an excellent understanding of pigmented powder manufacturing on industrial scale.
Must have excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of manufacturing of emulsions (O/W, W/O and W/SI), mixing technology of semisolids, liquids, powders, other cosmetic product forms (hot pours, detergents e.t.c) and scale ups.
Requires heightened attention to detail and organization skills, ability to react quickly to changes in a high paced manufacturing environment.
Requires the ability to proactively analyze problems, recognize opportunities and initiate creative solutions.
B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred but other relevant academic background will be considered.
1-5 years of work experience in process engineering at a fast-paced cosmetics or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Experience working with / familiarity with common cosmetic product forms (powders, emulsions, hot pours, detergents)
Knowledge of cGMP and guidelines of regulatory bodies.
Working knowledge of basic cosmetic industry laboratory test methods (Organoleptic Testing, Physical Testing including but not limited to pH, viscosity and density, Assay Testing, Microbiological Testing).
Prior process validation/ equipment qualification experience a plus
